Frequently Asked Questions

The BDO-issued American Express Gold Card product will be discontinued. However, you will continue to get access to American Express Cards’ privileges with your existing American Express Platinum Credit Card.


Your American Express Gold Card will automatically be cancelled on May 7, 2024, regardless of Card expiry date, with no replacement card.

Once cancelled, please properly dispose of your Card and any Supplementary Cards by cutting all the Card details (card number, expiry date, 4CSC, and CVV) and chip before disposal.
 

All payment arrangements enrolled through BDO (e.g. Utility payments via Auto-Charge, Automatic Debit Arrangement (ADA)) and enrolled directly through specific merchants (e.g. Utility Bills, Insurance, Subscriptions, etc.) will automatically be cancelled on May 7, 2024.

Yes, you may. Here is how to request a transfer of payment arrangements:
 
  • For payment arrangements enrolled through BDO (e.g. Utility payments via Auto-Charge, Automatic Debit Arrangement (ADA), click here, or call the BDO Contact Center at (+632) 8888-0000. 
  • For payment arrangements enrolled through specific merchants (e.g. Utility Bills, Insurance, Subscriptions, etc.), please re-enroll it with your merchant to avoid any service interruptions.
     

Any remaining unbilled installment transactions and any outstanding balance as of May 7, 2024 will continue to be billed to your American Express Gold Card until fully settled. These transactions will no longer earn Membership Rewards® Points. Fees and Charges apply.

No, any remaining outstanding balance under your American Express Gold Card must be settled and cannot be transferred to your American Express Platinum Credit Card or any other card account.


You may redeem your accumulated Membership Rewards® Points under your American Express Gold Card until May 15, 2024. Any unredeemed points after this date will be transferred to your existing American Express Platinum Credit Card.

To redeem your points, go to the Membership Rewards Catalogue, choose your reward and completely fill out and submit the online redemption form. You may also call the BDO Contact Center at (+632) 8888-0000 or visit a BDO branch near you.

Yes, your existing American Express Platinum Credit Card will be automatically enrolled to the Dual Currency feature (PHP and USD) in May 2024, if not yet enrolled, where your overseas purchases will be billed in US Dollar and your local purchases will be billed in Philippine Peso.
