One of Japan’s oldest banks partners with BDO

2019 March – Tokyo-based Norinchukin Bank has designated BDO Unibank, Inc. to be its partner-bank in addressing the financing needs of its corporate clients in the Philippines.

 

BDO will also serve the overall banking requirements of Norinchukin’s customers in Japan who are about to invest and establish their businesses in the country for the first time. The partnership between the two banks was sealed recently through a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

 

The 96-year-old Norinchukin Bank operates as a cooperative financial institution offering various banking services and providing financial support for the development of Japan’s agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries.

 

In the Philippines, Norinchukin Bank has a considerable number of clients which are into machinery manufacturing, engineering, and electronics industries, to name a few.

 

The bank is the latest in the list of Japanese financial institutions that has partnered with BDO given the latter’s strong position in the Philippine banking sector.

 

BDO, the country’s largest bank by total assets, loans, deposits and trust funds as of December 31, 2018, has a reputable Japan Desk dedicated to support Japanese companies operating in the country, as well as provide the retail requirements of Japanese clients.
