BDOF, Knowledge Channel, and Huawei launch MathDali videos
2023 June – Great things happen when partners come together for a worthy cause. Driven by a shared advocacy to help empower Filipino educators and learners, BDO Foundation, Huawei Philippines, and Knowledge Channel Foundation forged a partnership aimed at making the study of Mathematics more engaging for Grade One students.
Supportive of the MathDali initiative, the collaboration resulted in the development and recent launch of a new set of five curriculum-based videos on early numeracy.
“Through this initiative, we hope to contribute to DepEd’s efforts to improve the numeracy skills of Filipino learners through the National Mathematics Program,” BDO Foundation president Mario Deriquito remarked. “We thank Huawei for partnering with us on this undertaking and Knowledge Channel for your expertise in developing learning resources.”
According to Knowledge Channel president and executive director Rina Lopez, “This will go a long way in making sure that our students become productive, happier and holistically developed Filipinos.”
“Everyone has a right to high-quality education,” Huawei Philippines director of public affairs and communication department William Hu underscored. “We truly appreciate and value the efforts of our partners to promote educational excellence and ensure equal learning access in the Philippines.”
The launch of new MathDali videos was witnessed by BDO Unibank president and CEO and BDO Foundation trustee Nestor V. Tan as well as BDO Foundation trustees Evelyn Salagubang, Ma. Corazon Mallillin, Ismael Estela Jr. and Lazaro Jerome Guevarra. Department of Education (DepEd) external partnerships service director Dr. Margarita Consolacion Ballesteros, who also attended the occasion together with teachers and other DepEd officials, graciously welcomed the initiative.
The launch was highlighted by a congratulatory message from Vice President of the Philippines and DepEd secretary Sara Duterte, who thanked the aforementioned partners for coming together “to complement the government’s efforts in delivering quality, equitable, relevant and inclusive education.”
“I look forward to the video series helping our Grade One learners improve their numeracy skills,” she added.
Funded by BDO Foundation and Huawei Philippines, the educational videos were designed to make the study of basic Math interesting and interactive for pupils. The learning resources, which were developed by Knowledge Channel in consultation with DepEd, will be made available for viewing on the channel’s on-air, online and offline platforms.
