View Covered Accidental Injuries for Pet Medical Reimbursement

The policy will reimburse 80% of the Veterinary Expenses you incurred up to amount stated in the benefit table for injuries arising from an accident that is a consequence of or results in one of the following:

  1. Bone fracture
  2. Burn or electrocution
  3. Complications from drowning
  4. Bite wound or fight wound abscesses
  5. Tick paralysis
  6. Snake bite toxicity
  7. Foreign body obstruction
  8. Poisoning
  9. Embedded grass seed
  10. Anaphylactic shock or allergic reaction to insect or arachnid bites
  11. Torn nail

 

Notes:

  1. Veterinary Expenses from injury occurring or recurring within the first 30 days from policy effective date is not covered.  
  2. Preventive care, control of internal and external parasites, experimental procedures, training or medications for behavioral modification, pregnancy and giving birth, post confinement medications, and dental conditions are not covered by this benefit.  Please read the Terms and Conditions for the complete list of exclusions.

Insured Pet Owner’s Accidental Death and Disablement

The Policy will pay when an injury due to an accident results to the following losses within 180 days after the date of the accident:

The policy will reimburse 80% of the Veterinary Expenses you incurred up to amount stated in the benefit table, arising from diagnosis of the following:

  1. Cancer, lumps, cysts, growths;
  2. Cherry Eye;
  3. Non-Diabetic Cataracts;
  4. Cruciate Ligament Condition or Traumatic Ligament or Tendon Injury;
  5. Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD);
  6. Urinary Tract Infection, Disease, and/or Obstruction;
  7. Gastric-Dilatation Volvulus (GDV);
  8. Hip Dysplasia;
  9. Pyometra;
  10. Gastrointestinal Problems;
  11. Outer and Inner Ear Infections;
  12. Arthritis;
  13. Renal Disease.

Notes:

  1. Veterinary Expenses from illnesses diagnosed within the first 180 days from policy effective date or date of effectivity of its last reinstatement is not covered.
  2. For dogs: infectious canine hepatitis (canine adenovirus), parvovirus, canine distemper, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, canine influenza and all forms of kennel cough; or For cats: parvovirus (including feline panleukopenia), chlamydia, feline leukaemia virus (FeLV), feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, herpes virus and all forms of cat flu are not covered.  Please read the Terms and Conditions for the complete list of exclusions.
  3. Preventive care, control of internal and external parasites, experimental procedures, training or medications for behavioral modification, pregnancy and giving birth, post confinement medications, any declared pandemic affecting dogs or cats, any ectoparasite and endoparasite treatments and dental conditions are not covered by this benefit.  Please read the Terms and Conditions for the complete list of exclusions.

The policy will reimburse 80% of the Veterinary Expenses you incurred up to the amount stated in the benefit table due to the following acute dental conditions:

  1. Abscesses
  2. Removal of teeth where medically necessary due to fractured tooth/teeth

Notes:

  1. Veterinary Expenses arising from Acute Dental Condition that was sustained within the first 90 days from policy effective date or date of effectivity of last reinstatement is not covered.  
  2. Orthodontic treatment crowns, root canal, cosmetic dental surgery, odontoclastic resorptive lesions, preventive care, and experimental procedures are not covered.  Please read the Terms and Conditions for the complete list of exclusions.

The policy will pay the amount indicated on the benefit table due to the following:

  1. Death as a result of the covered accidents.  Please read the Pet Medical Reimbursement for Covered Accidental Injuries for the list of covered accidents.
  2. Death due to essential euthanasia as a result of the covered accidental injuries and illnesses.  Please read the Pet Medical Reimbursement for Covered Illnesses and Pet Medical Reimbursement for Covered Accidental Injuries for the list of covered accidental injuries and illnesses.

The following are not covered under this benefit:

  1. Voluntary euthanasia i.e. non-essential euthanasia
  2. Accidental death or euthanasia occurring outside of the Philippines.
Insured Pet Owner’s Liability

The policy will reimburse 90% of the following expenses from legal liability you incurred up to the amount stated in the benefit table due to the actions of the pet:

  1. Medical necessary expenses of others as a result of an injury caused by your pet;
  2. Veterinary expenses of a pet of others as a result of an injury caused by your pet;
  3. Legal fees in defending a claim against you;
  4. Repair or replacement costs incurred due to damage to the property of others.

Notes:

  1. You must immediately notify BDO Insure or the insurance company of any incident that may be potentially claimable under this benefit.
  2. You must not agree to pay or settle any amount or negotiate without the consent or approval of the insurance company, except for medically necessary expenses for immediate relief of the other person and/or his/her pet.
  3. Liability caused by your pet with a history of aggression, punitive damages, and liability occurred outside of the Philippines are not covered.  Please read the Terms and Conditions for the complete list of exclusions.

The policy will reimburse 80% of the Veterinary Expenses incurred up to the amount indicated on the benefit table due to the covered condition sustained by your pet under the Medical Reimbursement due to Specified Accidental Injury Benefit, Medical Reimbursement due to Specified Illness Benefit, or Acute Dental Conditions Benefit, if you availed these benefits, sustained while on a trip outside of the Philippines with your pet. 

 

This benefit is subject to the following:

  1. The international trip must not be more than 30 days,
  2. The payment will be in PHP at the exchange rate on the date of the claim notification,
  3. You must obtain the required permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry, airline, or shipping company for the pet and must comply with the requirements for international pet travel of the destination country.

The following are not covered:

  1. Any veterinary expenses if the international trip is more than 30 days
  2. Any veterinary expenses If the pet or the pet owner live permanently outside of the Philippines
  3. Exchange commission or bank charges incurred for foreign payment
  4. Any veterinary expenses if the pet was not under the direct care of the pet owner
  5. Any Veterinary Expenses arising from a condition sustained while in quarantine
  6. Any travel or repatriation charges to return the Insured Pet to the Philippines.

The policy will pay the amount indicated on the benefit table in the event of a Petnapping of the pet committed by a Third Party occurring within the Philippines. The Petnapping must be reported to the police within forty-eight (48) hours of discovering the Petnapping of the pet. The Petnap Benefit shall only be payable once during the lifetime of the Insured Pet.

 

 

 

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING 

Here are the things you need to know about Pet Dog and Cat Insurance

1.  Addition and deletion of add-on benefits are not allowed after purchase.  You may add and/or delete add-on benefits on the renewal of the policy

 

2. Veterinary Expenses means the reasonable, customary and Medically Necessary expenses incurred and paid in respect of customary examination, consultation, diagnostic work-up (diagnostic imaging, laboratory works, histopathology examination, etc.) and Veterinary Treatment and Management prescribed and/or provided by a Veterinarian during the coverage period

 

Veterinary Treatment and Management means reasonable and customary medications, hospitalization/confinement, surgery, nursing and other care and procedures prescribed and/or provided by a Veterinarian to relieve or cure a disease, Specified Illness, Specified Accidental Injury, or Acute Dental Condition during the coverage period.

 

Medically Necessary means a treatment that is in accordance with accepted standards of veterinary practice and absolutely necessary to protect and enhance the health status of the Insured Pet and could adversely affect its condition if omitted.

5. You may only purchase one Pet Insurance for your pet.

 

6. You may request for the cancellation of your policy to BDO Insure subject to the approval of the insurance company. The insurance company has the right to retain a portion of the premium (including the taxes) as indicated on the Terms and Conditions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the Pet Dog and Cat Insurance transferrable?

No, the Pet Dog and Cat Insurance is not transferrable.  In case of claim, only the pet dog or cat enrolled is covered by the insurance plan.

We regularly go to a vet for consultation. Can I file for reimbursement of the consultation fees?

No.  The Pet Dog and Cat Insurance covers only veterinary expenses arising from the covered accidental injuries or illnesses. 

 

My dog is an Aspin. Can I buy a Pet Dog and Cat Insurance for her?

Yes.  All dogs as long as they have a Pet Book and between 3 months to 6 years can buy Pet Dog and Cat Insurance.

 

My dog is 6 years old? Can I still buy Pet Dog and Cat Insurance for her next year?

Yes.  The Pet Dog and Cat Insurance is renewable until your pet dog or cat reaches 12 years old as long as your pet is continuously insured since the age of six (6).  However, in case there is a lag in renewal (e.g. policy expired May 30 and you re-enrolled June 30), the waiting periods for injury and sickness will have to be observed again.
