BDO wins Gold, Silver medals in first Anvil run
2020 May – BDO Unibank, Inc. won a Gold Anvil for its internal publication during the 55th Anvil Awards Gabi ng Parangal by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP). The bank, on its first foray into the Anvil Awards, also received three Silver Anvils for communications excellence.
The monthly BDO Newsletter, The Wayfinder, was recognized with a Gold Anvil under the PR Tools-Publications category. Launched at the start of 2019, The Wayfinder not only reports about bank-related events and activities; it also promotes brand love and a culture of oneness among its 38,000-strong workforce.
Besides the Gold Anvil, BDO bagged three Silver Anvils, two of which are from the PR Tools-Multimedia/Digital category—first, for its Valentine’s Day-themed financial education video and the second, for its influencer marketing video.
Titled “Payo para sa Puso,” the animated video tackles Filipino millennials’ behavior during the season of love and gives helpful budget tips. “Payo para sa Puso,” which was published on the BDO Unibank Facebook page before February 14, 2019, received thousands of views—even more after it was shared by various online influencers.
The other Anvil Award-winning tool also catered to millennials. The bank’s influencer marketing video features Miss Universe 2015 and BDO brand ambassador Pia Wurtzbach and former UAAP courtside reporter Angelique Manto.
BDO gave a one-day all-access pass to Manto, a die-hard fan of Wurtzbach’s, during the beauty queen’s commercial shoot for the bank. Wurtzbach shared her “adulting” advice with Manto on achieving goals and handling finances responsibly. The video garnered thousands of views across three social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
BDO’s other Silver Anvil was in the PR Tools-Exhibits and Special Events category for its homecoming exhibit of global Filipino artist David Medalla and his kinetic sculpture, “Cloud Canyons No. 31.”
The bubble machine was brought home to the Philippines from the United Kingdom as a way to reintroduce and heighten awareness about the artist and his artwork among fellow Filipinos. “Cloud Canyons No. 31” is now permanently on display at the lobby of BDO’s Corporate Center in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City.
“It truly inspires us that we got this many awards on our first year of taking part in the Anvils. All the hard work and sacrifice to find ways to become responsible partners towards our clients and communities paid off indeed,” said Honey Reyes, BDO’s senior assistant vice president and head for corporate communications.
“We look forward to pushing for more advocacies that promote financial literacy as part of our commitment to find ways towards financial inclusion for the nation,” she added.
Communications Excellence. BDO received a Gold Anvil Award for its employee publication, The Wayfinder, as well as Silver Anvil Awards for two digital videos on financial management and a homecoming event for the permanent installation of David Medalla’s “Cloud Canyons No. 31” at the BDO Corporate Center Ortigas.
