BDO Foundation aids displaced persons

2021 May – As part of continuing efforts to address the plight of Filipinos vulnerable to the effects of the pandemic, BDO Foundation recently provided aid to non-governmental organization Ako Bakwit for the benefit of economically disadvantaged and displaced Muslim brothers and sisters in various parts of the country.

The corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank donated grocery packs containing food, rice, and drinking water for 500 beneficiary-families located in Caloocan City, Manila, Makati City, Pasay City, Quezon City, and Rizal Province.

The initiative supported some of the most marginalized members of society including street vendors and families affected by armed conflict.

Ako Bakwit president Nazh-Far Mariwa Berganio, who led the distribution of the relief goods, said, “To everyone at BDO, thank you for your support. We need credible institutions and allies to continue telling our stories so that many will understand, so that we can get more people to help out.”

An advocacy rights group, Ako Bakwit aims to promote the welfare of internally displaced persons in the Philippines.

Finding ways to help. Volunteers of Ako Bakwit distribute grocery packs donated by BDO Foundation to beneficiaries in Mohammed Compound in Cardona, Rizal.
