BDO’s communication campaigns win Anvil and Quill Awards
2024 February– BDO Unibank (BDO) was recently recognized with Anvil and Quill Awards for excellence in its public relations campaigns.
The Bank received three Silver Anvil Awards at the 59th Anvil Awards Gabi ng Parangal by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) and seven Quill Awards of Merit at the 20th Philippine Quill Awards by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines.
The Anvil and Quill Awards are two of the most prestigious honors a company can get for effective public relations and strategic business communications in the country.
Anvil Awards
The Bank received recognition under the following categories:
- The All-out Fight against Online Scams (PR Programs, Best Use of Social Media category).With the number of Filipinos on Facebook, BDO released content to expose and educate followers on panic-inducing tactics used by scammers to trick and steal money from online bank accounts.
- BDO Life's Plan B Initiative (PR Tools, Multimedia category). In support of its life insurance subsidiary, BDO Life Assurance Company, Inc. (BDO Life), the Bank enhanced awareness on the value of having a Plan B in the form of life insurance through content partnerships and materials used across various platforms including print, social media, and podcasts.
- BDO's The Wayfinder (PR Tools, Publication category). For the second time, BDO’s official newsletter was recognized for not only for keeping employees abreast of company developments, but also engaged as the Bank’s brand ambassadors.
Award-winning PR. Quill Awards
BDO brought home Quill Awards of Merit under Division 1, Communication Management, for the following programs:
- Combating online scammers. BDO launched communication materials to teach Filipinos how to outsmart deceptive online schemes and navigate the digital landscape safely amid the rise of bank scams and online fraud.
- Finding ways for meaningful careers. BDO created awareness on its BDO Careers portal, including its user-friendly navigation and seamless application process, in addition to access to career building tips for potential applicants and employees.
- Strengthening the bank’s sustainability culture. Creative communications and innovative initiatives supported the launch of BDO’s Waste BusteRRR program, which engaged employees to take an active part in its waste management and sustainability practices.
- Financial inclusion for the unserved and underserved. BDO partnered with Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz to create educational and relatable content on money management for Filipinos living in far-flung communities.
- Financial education for fisher folks. With the Fish N’ Learn Card Game, BDO Foundation and its partner institutions combined the principles of gamification and financial education to teach the values of saving, budgeting, entrepreneurship, and debt management to fishing community members.
- Enhancing investor trust. BDO proactively engaged with analysts and investors by increasing its participation in conferences, roadshows, and one-on-one meetings by 20% compared to the previous year, and underscoring the Bank’s sustainability practices, digital transformation initiatives, and financial performance.
- Empowering investors. BDO Securities ran a series of comprehensive tutorial videos, insightful market updates, and interactive webinars to equip its rapidly growing retail investor base with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the stock market.
Excellence in business communications.The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines bestowed seven Quill Awards of Merit to BDO Unibank during the 20th Philippine Quill Awards last January 23, 2024 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Newport City, Pasay. The Quill Awards were received by BDO Consumer PR and Media Relations Team composed of its head Honey M.
